A dog that is injured or in pain from any cause should be approached cautiously, calmly and slowly. Applying a muzzle with a gauze will allow you to handle a dog without being bitten. Please note that this article is for those who do not have a commercial muzzle on hand and therefore need a different type.

1 Go behind the dog to put the muzzle on so that you don’t startle it.

2 Take the gauze and make it into a large loop.

3 Put the loop around the dogs muzzle. Loop the gauze around the muzzle a second time.

4 Take the two ends of the gauze and tie them behind the dogs head loosely so you can pull it off quickly.
