No experience is necessary to build this art station. Ask a Lowe’s associate to pre-cut the plywood and dowel and you won’t even need a saw for this easy project. Follow these simple steps and you’ll see that it is as easy as hanging brackets and mounting pieces to a board.

Make The Art Station Step 1 Cut 12 inches off of the 4-foot side of the 2’x4-foot 1/4-inch-thick birch plywood, making it 2 by 3 feet (or ask a Lowe’s associate to cut for you). Paint the front of the board. This will be the base of the art station. Cut the dowel making it 2 feet. Good to KnowPre-drill all the holes in the plywood before inserting any screws. Step 2 Attach craft board to plywood base. Lay the plywood on a work surface. Measure 5-1/2 inches from the top of the plywood base and place the 1/4″ x 2” x 2’ poplar craft board horizontally across the base and clamp in place. Mark 1-inch in from either end of the craft board. Drill a hole through the craft board and plywood using the 11/64 drill bit. Slide a washer onto a 8-32 x 1/2-inch round machine screw and put the screw through the craft board followed by another washer. Fasten the screw and washers through the plywood into a 8-32 x 1/4-inch T Nut on the back of the plywood for support. Repeat on the other side of the craft board. Good to KnowThe washer between the plywood and the craft board creates a space for the paper to slide. Step 3 Attach drapery brackets. The drapery brackets hang above the craft board. Measure and mark 2 inches down and 1-1/2 inches in from the outer edge of the plywood. This is where you will hang the brackets. Attach the brackets with the hardware included. In addition, use 8-32 1/4-inch T Nuts on the back. The roll of craft paper will hang from the brackets. Step 4 Attach mud pan. A 1/2 gallon mud pan hangs at the bottom of the plywood to coral art supplies. Drill two holes through the back of the mud pan 2- 1/2-inches and 1-inch down from either side. Place the outside edge of the short side of the mud pan 5-1/2 inches from the left of the plywood with the bottom of the mud pan hanging 1-1/2 inches above the bottom edge of the plywood. Mark the screw holes in the mud pan on the plywood and drill holes. Slide a washer onto a 8-32 x 3/8-inch round machine screw and put it through the mud pan and the plywood into the accompanying nut. Repeat on the other side of the mud pan. Hanging the Art Station Step 1 Locate and mark 1 inch in from the side and 1 inch down from the top of the plywood and drill a hole. Repeat for each corner. Decide where you want to hang the art station. Hold the art station level against the wall and use the holes to mark where the anchors will be. Screw the anchors into the wall.

Step 2 Line up the screw hole for the top left corner of the art station and insert an 8 x 1-1/4 zinc-plated pan head sheet metal screw through a washer and into the anchor. Repeat in each corner.
